What’s New in the 2026 Kia Lineup From Sportage to Carnival

Kia is making some bold moves for 2026, balancing a shifting EV landscape with refreshed SUVs, a new hatchback, and continued refinement of fan favorites like the Carnival. Whether you’re eyeing an electric crossover, a family hauler, or a fuel-efficient hybrid, this year’s lineup brings something worth talking about. And yes, the dancing hamster’s beloved Soul is finally bowing out.

  • The hatchback-like Soul takes a bow as the three-row Telluride gets a full redesign marked by a new hybrid option.
  • Kia introduced an updated Sportage for 2026 with reworked styling and new trim options.
  • The Carnival minivan carries over its 2025 refresh with styling updates and a hybrid powertrain for 2026.

The Sportage Gets an Early Refresh

Kia originally expected to refresh the compact Sportage for 2027, but the Korean automaker introduced an updated version for 2026 instead. Kia reworked the Sportage’s front and rear bumpers, and the SUV received a dressed-up front fascia with a new LED design and taillights with a more geometric shape.

New 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheels add fresh styling options for the 2026 Sportage, and the brand’s signature cube-style projector headlights became available. The 2026 Sportage offers something for everyone, with an expansive lineup that includes a new sporty S and capable X-Line trim for the Sportage HEV.

The 2026 Sportage now offers the rugged X-Line trim for the Sportage Hybrid model, which comes standard with an Active AWD system with Terrain Mode (Snow, Mud, Sand) and a unique tread-like stitching pattern on SynTex synthetic leather-trimmed seats.

Kia Carnival Keeps the Family Covered

The 2026 Kia lineup updates include the Carnival, which continues to position this MPV as a strong contender for families who want minivan practicality with SUV styling. Kia applied a major midcycle refresh to the Carnival for the 2025 model year, including styling updates and a new hybrid powertrain. Kia also revised the Carnival’s driver assistance technology and worked over the interior with larger infotainment displays and standard USB-C ports. For 2026, gasoline and hybrid versions of the Carnival carry over unchanged.

Kia offers the 2026 Carnival with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine as standard equipment. Output is rated at 290 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, and all V-6 Carnival models use front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid models are equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 engine paired with an electric motor to develop a total of 242 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque, with a six-speed automatic as standard.

The Carnival continues to impress with available dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays and advanced comfort amenities, including available VIP Lounge Seats with heating, ventilation, and one-touch relaxation mode. All versions of the 2026 Kia Carnival come equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and seven USB-C ports are standard on every version.

Kia includes 18 driver and safety assistance features, even on the base Carnival LX trim. These include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian/cyclist detection, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, lane keeping and following, safe exit assist, and rear occupant alert.

New Arrivals and EVs

Kia introduced the K4 sedan as the Forte’s replacement for 2025, and now a hatchback is on the way for the new model year. The 2026 Kia K4 Hatchback departs from the sedan’s fastback styling with a more traditional, squared-off profile.

Its versatile shape provides class-leading rear headroom and legroom, as well as an ample 23.9 cubic-foot cargo area, which more than doubles when you fold the rear seats down. The compact hatchback is also available with premium features such as heated and ventilated front seats in SynTex leather, an ultra-wide sunroof, and a Harman Kardon audio system.

Kia’s current electric SUVs, the EV6 and EV9, received minimal updates for 2026. The fate of the Kia EV4 is less certain with the discontinuation of the EV tax credit and unstable tariff conditions, but the 2026 Kia EV3 should still arrive next year. The subcompact EV3 will slot beneath the larger EV6, and Kia is set to equip the EV3 with a single-motor FWD powertrain developing 201 hp and 209 lb-ft of torque.

Goodbye Soul, Hello Telluride Hybrid

The beloved Kia Soul, the boxy SUV that was the star of the dancing hamster commercials over a decade ago, will not be offered for the 2026 model year. Kia is retiring the Soul after the current model, as it gears up for a new generation of SUVs for the US.

According to reports, the Kia Telluride will skip the 2026 model year as it prepares for the all-new 2027 model. The 2027 Kia Telluride will be offered with both gas and hybrid powertrains. For Telluride fans, the wait may be worth it.

Finding Your Fit in the 2026 Kia Range

The 2026 Kia lineup balances the automaker’s electric ambitions with practical updates to its popular gas and hybrid models. The refreshed Sportage brings new style and capability, while the Carnival remains a strong choice for families who need space and comfort without sacrificing modern tech. With the K4 Hatchback adding versatility and new EVs arriving soon, Kia shoppers have plenty to consider this year.
