The Best and Worst of the New York Auto Show

We love our auto shows and what they bring for us to enjoy the experience and the vehicles that could become part of the future landscape that we drive every day. The New York Auto Show is the most recent show where we’ve been presented with some of the new models that will be made or are ideas that might become vehicles that are great to drive. Not every auto show brings us a ton of winners, sometimes there are vehicles that aren’t as good as what we would like to see. Let’s look at some of the winners and losers from the show in New York.

Winners

2020 Toyota Highlander

This brand-new version of the SUV that’s we’ve admired and enjoyed for a long time is ready to give us the three-row family-hauling that will make the drive right. This new SUV rides on the TNGA architecture that will ensure that you have the quality ride you’re looking for and the features that make a lot of sense for you. We can’t wait to see the new Highlander on the market.

2020 Subaru Outback

The Subaru Outback has been one of the most enjoyable off-road vehicles offered for many years and this new model will bring us the drive we’re sure to enjoy and plenty of tech to go along for the ride. You can enjoy the power and efficiency of the engines offered and know that you have AWD to give you the quality feeling you’re looking for in the wilderness.

2020 Hyundai Venue

It feels like we have a new Hyundai SUV to discuss with every show that takes place. The Venue is a subcompact model that will be the one to take on a new market that’s becoming filled with excellent SUVs. This Hyundai is ready to take you for a drive and offer you the versatility and comfort that you’ve been looking for when you drive.

Undecided

Volkswagen Tarok

This truck is one of the most popular around the world, but we’re not sure if it will be ideal for the US market. This small concept truck is offered with a unibody construction and the small dimensions that could open the door to the compact truck class that’s been gone from the market for a long time. The Tarok will likely show up at other shows in the near future to offer us more information to help our decision-making process.

Genesis Mint Concept

The Mint Concept is sleek and stylish with room for two and a unique cargo shelf. This is a coupe that drives on an electric powertrain while giving us a futuristic look. As presented, you can’t expect Genesis to create it as a production model, which means we might see a variety of changes made to this car or see it used as inspiration for the first EV from Genesis.

2020 Cadillac CT5

Here’s a brand new sedan model from the Cadillac name that offers you the RWD we want and plenty of power. You can even have this car with the Super Cruise technology that will make it easy to have the confidence you want when you head out on the road. This is a car that you’ll want to take for a ride to see if it’s the right one for you to enjoy every day.

Losers

2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel

We love that Mazda finally has fulfilled its promise to make sure you can have the drive you’re looking for. The compression-ignition powertrain under the hood still needs some work, but this is a good place to start. If you’re considering this SUV as the one you want to drive, you might want to wait for the second year of the diesel Mazda CX-5 for a better driving experience.

2020 Acura TLX PMC Edition

If you want a car that looks like it’s going to sizzle on the road, this is the one you’ll want to drive. Unfortunately, the look is about all you get with this car that should have a lot more power for the drive. There will only be 360 models of this car built and you can expect them all to be sold quickly. This car does give you a great drive, but it could be so much more.

2020 Nissan 370Z 50thAnniversary Edition

This is a car that’s certainly fun to drive and it has some cool looks to it, but it might be a bit more than what you want when it comes to the style and the drive. This car is getting up there in age and makes us yearn for a new version of the Z car from Nissan, but we’re not sure if there will be one that will be the successor to this model in the future.
