Will A 2025 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Will Be the Last Camaro Off the Combustion Production Line?

2025 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Before we say a final goodbye to the Chevrolet Camaro as we know it, there may be one last Z/28 off the production line. It’s probably not something that we will see at all Chevrolet dealerships, but in spirit, the track-focused model will be a successor to the latest generation Z/28. Want to know more? Here are some details and some guesses about what may happen with this last Camaro.

What Will the new Z/28 Have for Equipment?

Chevy hasn’t released many details about the last-generation Camaro Z/28, but we expect it to be lean, without any extra weight. They will do this by adding more carbon fiber and removing any sound-deadening materials. This Camaro will not have any rear seats, which will also help lighten the load. Just like the current Z/28, Chevy will build it on their Alpha platform, and it will get spool-valve dampers. Braking will come from Brembo carbon-ceramic calipers and rotors.
Power may come from a version of the LT6 engine that powers the Corvette Z06. It’s capable of generating 670 horsepower, but even if the Camaro gets 650 horsepower out of it, it will be plenty.

When Will We See this Camaro?

If all goes according to plan, this Camaro will hit select Chevrolet dealerships in the fall of 2024. It’s expected that Chevy will only produce about 1,000 or less of them. There is a possibility that Chevrolet could pull the plug on the entire production, but hopefully, they will continue through to the end so that diehard Camaro lovers will get one last thrill behind the wheel of this iconic performance car.

The Rest of the Camaro Lineup Will End in 2024

The current and sixth-generation Camaro has been around for nine years, but Chevy will stop production in January 2024. It’s still available as a coupe and a convertible and offers packages and equipment to increase performance and make it track-worthy.
The latest version includes a new Collector’s Edition package for the RS and SS to celebrate the Camaro and commemorate the nameplate. It brings back features from Camaro’s past, including the initial code name, which was Panther.

What’s Next for the Camaro?

Don’t worry. Even though we won’t see the Camaro as we know it at Chevrolet dealerships, there is a new version coming. The end of the gas-powered Camaro will make way for the electrified version. As GM moves toward an electric lineup, the Camaro nameplate will reemerge with four doors and an electric motor. Drivers can also expect an electric sports car from Chevrolet. The details about whether it will have more of a Corvette or a Camaro look are still not available though. We will just have to wait and see. According to GM, they plan to launch a new sub-brand sometime in 2025, but the Camaro models might arrive earlier as a 2025 model.
