The Ford Explorer brings us a great list of new qualities for 2022.  When you’re shopping, you’ll see a new ST-Line model added to the mix, engine stop/restart has been added to the four-cylinder model, RWD is available for the ST trim, while the King Ranch and Platinum models now have the ST engine under the hood.  A new cargo organizer and bumper protection options are offered, and you’ll see some changes in the paint palette you’ll want for your drive.

Plenty of What You Want in the Cabin

This Ford brings you seating for seven people with a configurable three-seat bench in the middle row.  You can change to six-person seating with captain’s chairs in this row at higher trims.  You’ll see an impressive dashboard, comfortable seats, and a rugged style that reflects the feeling of this SUV.  The cargo room starts at 18.2 cubic feet and expands to 87.8 cubic feet when the rear two rows are folded down.

The Trio of Explorer Powertrains

All three of the engines offered for the Ford Explorer use a ten-speed automatic transmission to give you the power to the wheels.  The base engine is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder model that gives you 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque.  You’ll have 21 city/28 hwy mpg in RWD models and 20 city/27 hwy mpg in AWD versions.

The hybrid powertrain brings you a 3.3-liter V6 engine plus an electric motor to return 318 horsepower and 322 lb.-ft. of torque.  This model offers you 27 city/28 hwy mpg in RWD versions or 23 city/26 hwy mpg in AWD models.

The top engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that is found in the ST, King Ranch, and Platinum trims.  This engine gives you 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque.
