The 2024 version of the Volkswagen Touareg receives some upgrades that European drivers will admire. This SUV used to be part of the American lineup.
When the third generation Touareg came to the world in 2018, VW had already nixed its time in the United States. Most likely, this flagship crossover SUV wasn’t meant to go up against the three-row Atlas, and this is why we don’t see it on our roads. Regardless, the Touareg is the flagship VW SUV for the European market and it brings some cool new features to the market giving Europeans something more in their vehicle.
More lights and better wheels
To highlight the changes, and that’s not actually a pun, the new 2024 Touareg has a pair of new light bars to give this SUV an impressive new look. One light bar is found on the front while the other adorns the rear of the VW.
Volkswagen also adds some cool new wheel options for this crossover SUV. If the shoes make the car, the Touareg will certainly be admired on European roads with the new wheels that vary in size from 19 to 21 inches. Drivers going for the R-Line and R models have the option of a set of 22-inch wheels with a Silicon Gray Matte finish to them.
What does the new front offer?
The 2024 Volkswagen Touareg brings a set of redesigned headlights with a triple “L” theme to them. Additionally, these new lights feature micro-LED and advanced matrix technology. Hopefully, all that tech jargon translates to better visibility on the road, especially under low light conditions. These new headlights are called IQ Light HD LED matrix and each headlight has no fewer than 19,216 individually controllable micro LEDs. That certainly sounds like some lights that will make it much easier to see when its dark outside.
Has the interior been upgraded?
The 2024 model of this VW SUV isn’t a complete redesign, but a refresh. Still, some upgrades should find their way into the cabin of this SUV. The new Innovision Cockpit brings a fully digital 12-inch instrument cluster and a 15-inch touchscreen. The infotainment system now supports high-resolution HD map data with lane-level navigation. Drivers can enjoy improved voice controls along with wireless connectivity, giving European drivers more of what they need when driving this SUV.
This controls of this SUV feature some new glossy black switchgear which makes it stand out. The ambient lighting has been upgraded with the Touareg lettering illuminated on the passenger side of the dashboard.
The new 2024 Volkswagen Touareg also features more powerful USB-C ports, a head-up display, and a 730-watt Dynaudio sound system which doesn’t add anything to the price of this VW SUV.
This Volkswagen goes strictly V6
The diesel V8 engines are becoming more of a rarity in the European world. Instead of V8 power, the Touareg features five different V6 engines to give drivers a range of possibilities.
The base engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that makes 335 horsepower.
Those drivers looking for some diesel power can enjoy the benefits of a 3.0-liter V6 TDI that delivers 228 horsepower. This engine can also be tuned up to deliver 282 horsepower in higher models of the Touareg.
Volkswagen gives this European SUV an electrified powertrain for those looking for some hybrid power. The eHybrid model brings a 3.0-liter V6 gas engine with an electric motor to offer 375 horsepower to the wheels. This powertrain is used for the Touareg R, giving this top trim 456 horsepower for the drive.
Is AWD a standard part of this SUV?
Regardless of the powertrain, the 2024 Volkswagen Touareg comes with the 4Motion AWD and an 8-speed automatic transmission. This is ideal for driving around on European roads which tend to change elevations and twist around mountains and hills with ease. The suspensions have been retuned for more comfort.
There’s now a roof load sensor in this Volkswagen SUV, telling the onboard computers how much stuff is on the roof and whether or not adjustments are required to ensure the vehicle remains stable.
The Touareg is much better
This new 2024 Volkswagen Touareg SUV brings new lights, better wheels, new engines, and improved technology to give European drivers a much more interesting and useful SUV on most roads. With standard 4Motion AWD, this new VW SUV can be a wonderful adventure machine to take families to various European locations during their annual holidays.
If you visit Europe, will you choose to drive this new VW SUV?
